The REEF RAKERS program is one of the many programs under the Volunteer Services of Manatee County family of youth volunteer service programs. The ManaTEENS program is all about getting young people involved in helping to make our community a better place because of the students giving their time to various organizations and projects. All REEF RAKER students are awarded volunteer hour credits for their efforts and those credits are used to fulfill various scholarship and educational requirements. www.manateens.org

BEFORE
These 2 pictures are great examples of the work the REEF RAKERS do everytime they enter the water. Left alone the discarded fishing line would have continued to cut into the coral as it grows eventually choking out life. Worse - something could have ripped the fishing line from the bottom taking the living coral with it. The REEF RAKERS take the time necessary to cut and unwrap each piece of coral or other various life giving structures, and allow the habitats to thrive. Make a difference by joining the REEF RAKERS team.
